Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data is collected when you visit learn.artbymaddy.com, why, and what you can do about it. I've kept it short and in plain language.

Who I am

This website is run by Maddy Bellwoar, based in Netherlands. I'm responsible for your personal data on this site. For any privacy question or request, email me at support (at) artbymaddy.com.

How I protect your privacy

I take your privacy seriously and follow the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In practice that means:

• I only collect what I need: your name and email address if you join the mailing list, and nothing else unless you give it to me.
• Your data stays in the EU. The site, the visitor statistics and the mailing list all run on servers in the EU.
• No tracking without your consent. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and videos from other sites only load if you allow them.
• Visiting a page doesn't send your data to anyone else. Fonts and images are served from this site, not from Google or other companies.
• I never sell your data or share it for marketing.

The mailing list

When you join the mailing list, I store your name and email address. After signing up you get an email asking you to confirm; you're only added once you click that link. I keep a record of when you signed up and confirmed, so I can show you agreed to receive emails.

I use these only to send you news about my courses, such as the launch of "Getting Comfortable with Gouache" and your discount code. I never sell or share them.

The mailing list is managed by Brevo, a company based in France (EU) that stores and sends the emails for me. Brevo may record whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, which helps me see what's useful.

To stop automated sign-ups, the site limits how often one IP address can sign up. For this, the IP address you sign up from is kept in the server's memory for at most an hour. It isn't saved or shared. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the sign-up form.

You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email. Your data is then removed from the list. The legal basis is your consent.

Visitor statistics

To see how many people visit and which pages they read, I use Plausible Analytics, running on my own server. Plausible uses no cookies and doesn't track you across websites. It doesn't store your IP address or build a profile of you; it only counts visits, pages, where visitors came from and their type of device, browser and country. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.

Cookies

This site itself only sets cookies to remember your choices:

• hasDeclinedCookies: remembers that you declined third-party cookies, so the cookie notice doesn't come back (28 days).
• AllowEmbed: remembers that you allowed embedded videos (1 year).

Some pages can show videos from Twitch or YouTube. These are only loaded after you allow them in the cookie notice. Once loaded, Twitch or YouTube can set their own cookies and receive data such as your IP address; their own privacy policies apply. You can withdraw your consent by deleting the cookies for this site in your browser.

Hosting

The site runs on a rented server in Germany (EU). The hosting company only processes data to keep the site running. Fonts and other files are served from this site itself, not from third parties.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time to:

• see what personal data I have about you;
• correct it;
• delete it;
• send you a copy of it;
• stop using it.

Email support (at) artbymaddy.com and I'll respond within a month. If you're unhappy with how I handle your data, you can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

If I change how I handle personal data, for example when the course goes on sale, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
